About Us

We are Montevallo. What does this mean?

Montevallo is an intentionally distinctive small town that embraces a culture of community, respect, and innovation. We are a Designated Main Street Community, one of twenty cities in Alabama! The Main Street Program is designed to revitalize the social and economic institutions in the downtown area. Over the next few years, residents and visitors to Montevallo can expect our downtown to build on our energetic culture with shopping, eateries, parks, festivals and events in our Main Street district. We already host a number of unique events including Art Stalk, Fire Prevention Parade, Future Farmers of America (FFA) Farm Day, and Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Day Parade to name just a few.

Sister City

Proudly, we are a sister city with Echizen, Japan! The partnership began over a common love of pottery and we now host student exchange programs with Echizen each year and share knowledge and interests of each culture with our respective communities. Visit City Hall to see the beautiful Echizen pottery that has been given to the city.

Our mission in the City of Montevallo is to enhance, enrich, and empower the lives of everyone who comes through our city. We welcome you to explore culture and the arts in Montevallo, participate in the history of our timeless city, shop the stores and galleries on Main Street, and enjoy the natural beauty of our town. We welcome you to Montevallo!
