| The City of Montevallo requires a Building Permit for the construction, alteration and repair of any structure including but not limited to buildings, accessory buildings, repairs, additions and signs. The Montevallo Zoning Ordinance requires that a Building Permit Application is filled out before the work begins and is returned with plans detailing the project for which the application is being submitted. Please refer to the 2003 Montevallo Zoning Ordinance and this list of the most recent amendments to the 2003 Zoning Ordinance for complete information regarding building regulations in Montevallo The City of Montevallo conforms to the construction standards set by the International Building Code of 2003. The cost of the permit is $30.00 per job plus ½% (.005) of the price of any work over $2,000. In addition, each home builder and contractor is required to have a Business License. Please be sure to bring the State required cards and certificates when applying. Developers are required to pay System Development Improvement Fees to the Montevallo Water and Sewer Board upon approval and signature by the City Engineer of the Final Plat.
